(More customer reviews)Just kidding. I only paid $19.35 including shipping for this 74-pg. music book. If you loved the music of the movie, you'll love this because- it is the music of the movie. Some 'movie music piano books' just have the theme in the simplest of terms, or only include few songs. Sure, this won't sound exactly the sam either, because hey, my piano sure doesn't sound like a sitar, and I can't sing in Hindi. All the same, this book will have you sounding like the movie. A note: the music itself is nicely uncomplicated, but the counting is not for the fainthearted. Anyways, buy the book and enjoy A.R. Rahman's masterpieces- once you figure out the counting.

However, interested parties should know, there is a fairly good quality, very readable, Public Domain PDF available at the International Music Score Library Project/Petrucci Library, which is at least in the U.S. legal to download, perform, and redistribute at will. Please click the "Public Domain" link on that page to check restrictions by country. Available at: imslp.org/wiki/Main_Page and browse by composer name. (More customer reviews)The Handoshkin (also spelled Chandoshkin) Concerto in C Major for Viola (and strings, or strings with flutes, or - in this case - in piano reduction) is an excellently composed work that fully displays the capabiities and beauties of tone of this wonderful instrument. There are three movements - fast, slow, faster - as is typical. The first is a bit martial in style, the second Canzona is song-like, and the third La Chasse is a hunting romp. The first and last movements make extensive use of double stops, and one minor complaint I have of this edition is that Vieland's fingerings and shift indications for these passages take a bit of translation to figure out.
While most viola teachers and many students have heard of this work, not so many actually know it; certainly not to the extent that the Teleman G Major Concerto is taught and performed. The only recording that I know of is an old one by Rudolph Barshai, first released on vinyl and now available on YouTube as an .flv file, which adds a pair of flutes to the accompaniment (not, IMHO, a good choice). Either Barshai or Vieland has made substantial changes in the recapitulation of the first movement - including the cadenza, which is much more challenging in Barshai's performance, has introduced octave shifts in the Canzona - Barshai's performance is much more ineresting and exploits the lower register to great effect in the second A section, and has modified the cadenza of La Chasse - again, Barshai's is more challenging. I would suggest that anyone wishing to study this work listen to the Barshai version and decide whether or not to make at least the octave shifts Barshai uses in the Canzona.

Emedia Piano & Keyboard Method Review

(More customer reviews)I have 2 major problems with this program. The first is that it is on a small little screen that you cannot blow up to full page. Yes, you can enlarge the screen by going through the menu but you should be able to just click on the enlarge icon and have it full screen. The notes are small, even in the enlarged mode and it will not go the the larger size on my laptop for some reason. Not very easy on the eyes.
The second problem I have is that it doesn't label the notes when you start playing the first songs. If you're a beginner, like me, it would be nice to see the notes labeled for several lessons that are actual songs, it would make it easier to become accustomed to which notes went where on the lines.
Other than that I'm enjoying learning how to play the keyboard.
