(More customer reviews)I purchased this songbook after previously encountering Joseph Martin through his "Christmas Tapestry" arrangements. These arrangements are beautiful, and often remind me of a blend of Aaron Copeland's "Appalachian Spring" and Debussy. The harmonies are wonderful, and all of the arrangements and the few original compositions are very interesting. The music, when heard, sounds much more difficult than it actually is to play, although your fingers can get quite a workout on a couple of the songs! Martin often likes to put in sections that sound like a harp, and I find these the most difficult to play correctly, but they are definitely worth the effort. There is not a single arrangement that I would not hesitate to play for friends, in church or elsewhere in public, because they are so uplifting and sonorous.
