(More customer reviews)It's really hard to tell the quality and size of the benches seen online from a simple picture and the numbers quoted (occasionally) in profiles. That being said, this is the second bench I've bought online, the first being proportioned for Golem from LOTR.
This bench is a high quality product. It has a very thick pad for comfort and has an adjustable range set for an averaged sized person which provides for proper posture when playing a standard sized keyboard or piano. Other products may be a little cheaper...but they're also undersized to save on material costs....and they make you play the piano in a very uncomfortable position. Spend a little extra and buy a bench like this, so you'll enjoy your time playing!

(More customer reviews)I play acoustic guitar sitting down and do about 50 gigs a year. It seems like there is never a decent chair in the coffee houses and other venues I play in to use. They're either really uncomfortable or so rickety I think they're going to fall over at any time. I have been looking for something for a long time that is comfortable, portable, and reasonably priced. Stools just don't cut it and everything in a chair I've looked at over the years has been heavy, non collapsible, or so expensive I could practically buy another guitar with what they cost. This thing is great! At $159 it is extremely reasonable. It is also very comfortable and has a lot of adjustability and feels VERY solid. And, it folds up like a simple folding auditorium chair you'd see almost anywhere so it takes up very little space when I'm packing for a gig. It certainly would also work well for cello, violin and other players who sit while playing. I'll probably buy a second one just to have when someone sits in with me. 5 stars!!!!!

(More customer reviews)This is a decent bench. It arrives fully assembled. Height ss pretty easy to adjust. The only criticism, the padding is a bit on the firm side. The bench solidly built and feels very stable. Given the good amount of adjustment this will work well for keyboard playing. We're using it as a guitar stool / bench, and it works beautifully for that purpose.

Yamaha Wood Padded Wood Bench for Piano Playing Review

(More customer reviews)This is supposed to match the DGX 630/620 and YPG 635/625 series digital pianos/keyboards. Even though Yamaha "makes" it (they list the WB2 on their site, but probably outsource it), the colors on this are way off from the piano, and do not match the picture. In fact the legs of the bench are actually a different color than the top portion that supports the padding. The legs have a very distinct orange tint that clashes with the top and with the piano, even when viewed from a distance. The top portion is much closer to the correct color, but the manufacturer must have decided to use a cheaper material for the legs. Also, the seat cushion material is not a tan color, as the picture indicates, but instead has a greenish tint to it. I swear I'm not color blind! My wife took one look and thought it was hideous and I'm now returning it. I don't normally do many product reviews, but I really think it's a crime that this says it is a matching bench.
Other than the color, it seems to be very sturdy and well made. That's the only reason it got 2 stars from me instead of one.

(More customer reviews)The legs remove completely from the bench by squeezing in two pins on each arm of the "X". There are knobs you can tighten to hold the pins in, which is handy because otherwise it would require a lot of hands to set up the bench.
I would not recommend this bench if you plan to set it up and take it down frequently. The rails on the bottom of the bench are too close together on mine and that makes one end very difficult to remove. It also takes a bit of fiddling around with both ends to ensure all 4 pins seat in the holes in the bench rail. If you were in a hurry it would be easy to only wedge the unit together and have it collapse when you sat down.

It's light enough to carry around. I also like it that it can be folded away for storage if I ever need to. It is also stable enough, though I wouldn't recommend rocking on it or standing on it.

Yamaha PKBB1 Single Braced Adjustable X-Style Keyboard Bench Review

(More customer reviews)First of all, the PKBB1MM is the same model as the PKBB1. In fact, the box for this bench leaves off the MM suffix. So, it would seem that the same bench is being sold twice on Amazon, for two different prices. Go for whichever is cheaper.
Now, as far as the bench goes, it's not bad, especially for the price. Raising and lowering could be easier--as is, it involves unscrewing a knob, pulling out a bolt, holding a bunch of washers in place, and screwing the knob back into the bolt at the desired height. Not as horrible as it sounds, but could be annoying if you're taking this bench to a gig. If you're using it in your home, however, you'll probably just leave it in one position anyway.
The other downfall of this bench is that its highest setting is not all that high. I'm six feet tall, have a digital piano with the keys positioned at exactly the height of a regular grand piano, and honestly, the bench makes me feel a little short. Two or three inches more height would be perfect.
The upsides are: 1) the cushion is quite comfortable, even for extended playing; it feels almost like visco-elastic foam. 2) The bench is reasonably sturdy and well-built, considering the small size and the low cost.
Overall, I'd recommend this bench for home use, but only because it is dramatically cheaper than anything else in its class.
