Rocktron Banshee Talk Box Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this talkbox from Musicians friend here in Kansas city and I must say I love it. No tricky set up. You just simply plug in and play your instrument. I am a keyboard player and it makes my Yamaha DX100 sound amazingly great. I like the effects that you can do with the box. In the manual it is also explained very well about setting up. If you were to read the Rocktron description, it says that you can't distroy the driver. I have even spoken to a gentlemen at the company and he has said that he has turned up his box to the maximum volume. There is one let down in this review I do want to mention. I understand that guitarists have been using this effect. That's fine. I have no problem with that. But what about us keyboardists? Professional, and or hobbiests? Everyone is looking at this and saying that this can only be hooked up to a guitar, or bass. Wrong wrong wrong! This is also a talkbox for a keyboard. I mean sure, Roger Troutman, and Roger Troutman II have had different talkbox sounds, but, Roger Troutman II used the Rocktron when he recorded the second coming in 2000. So, don't look at this box just for guitarists, look at this box for keyboardists too!

ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool Black Short Review

(More customer reviews)I have had the tall version of this stool since feb 2011. It is great! I have been using different types of bar stools for years but this beats them hands down. I am 6'3", 350 lbs and a active musician. It also works great when turned upside down as it holds my guitar stands, amp mic stand, pedal board, amp stand and anything else I can fit into it for transporting stuff to and from venue to vehicle on my dolly. I always play sitting down and the double support ring ads a lot of stability. I am hard on stools while playing by moving around and turning alot and so far the swivel seat has withstood my weight without a problem. The saddle shape keeps my legs from falling asleep like they did with round seats that cut off circulation. It takes a little time to get accustomed to the saddle but it is well worth it. I am buying the short version for my wife to use.

This is by far the best guitar of the previous two, and thinking back the least expensive. I cannot believe how well-made this instrument is, with close attention to detail. There were no short-cuts taken when assembling this guitar, those small details that usually distinguish entry level instuments. I would recommend this guitar to anyone.

Us and Them was transposed beautifully and the bass line in Breathe is amazing. The bonus track Wots...Uh the Deal is great although it was not my reason for purchasing.

Wittner MT50 Metronome Review

Flick the switch on the right side, and it starts instantly. Slide the switch up for blinking LED and sound, off is the middle position, and down is for LED only. Turn the center knob to select the desired tempo. Use the included ear plug to better hear the sound while making music. Takes one 9v battery. Includes built-in stand.
Pros:
- Will fit in many shirt pockets - is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Weighs only a few ounces, so there is no burden to carry it in your gig bag or instrument case.
- Takes no more than a couple of seconds to select a tempo of 40 to 208. Knurled knob is just right for sure control.
- Tuning note is a perfect A 440 according to my new Korg tuner.
- Clicking of beat sound is an OK volume when there's no music being played.
- Handy wire stand to hold unit in near-vertical position on a flat surface.
- Wearing ear-piece provides reasonably audible sound. I can hear it while playing my trumpet, for example.
Cons:
- The blinking LED is too faint to be of much use. Set it on your music stand while playing, and unless you have terrific peripheral vision or the unit is within inches of your sight line, you probably won't see the light. Other brands have much brighter LEDs.
- The beat sound, although OK, is not as loud as other pocket metronomes my fellow musicians use. It's OK for small group tempo setting, but insufficiently loud to demonstrate tempo to a large band.
- The ear-piece is useful while practicing on your own, but the volume could be a bit higher (and yes, my hearing is just fine). In any case, my antique wooden metronome with the swinging pendulum is much easier to follow, at least for me.
- Basic, no frills device. A volume and brightness control would have been a big help. There are no beat (4/4, 2/4, 3/4 etc., where beat 1 is louder) choices. It doesn't shut off by itself.
Summary:
I bought it mostly to set the tempo for small groups I'm in, before we start a piece. For that, it works fine. However, having a weak LED and so-so beat sound, are pretty basic weaknesses. I wouldn't buy this one again.

It features a quarter-inch jack for input and a "+" and "-" key for tuning in another pitch close to what you're in. Say I was in G and wanted to go to G1. Hit the "+" button a couple times, and bam it's now calibrated for that pitch. It comes standard with a small condenser mic built in so you can tune a woodwind instrument, trumpet, acoustic guitar or small squirrel. Whatever you need to tune. Super simple and easy to use, Korg has a reputation for producing the best tuners on the market. Weather it's rackmount tuning you need or the cheap-o $20 CA-1 Korg has you covered. My first one worked until it was lost during a show. I am willing to put money down that it would have worked up until now when I needed to buy another.
To the review that says it's "Tinny" sounding...Dude, that's stupid. It's a tuner. It doesn't have an OUTPUT! You plug in your guitar or bass and tune. You can't say that a tuner has any kind of real sound, since you're not really playing through it. A stomp-box pedal tuner may sound "tinny", but that may only be because it might not be true bypass circuitry used. Anyways, this is a great product and completely mandatory if you play an instrument.

(More customer reviews)I am not a musician, but I love "playing" the ukulele as a way to amuse myself and relax at the end of a long day. Unfortunately I have trouble tuning my instrument because I am not so blessed with a tin ear. I have trouble determining when I have my uke strings in tune. I can get close, but often an off pitch string sounds OK to me.
I really never heard of an electronic tuner before I discovered the Korg CA-40 as a recommended product based on my purchasing history on the [...]. The price tag on the thing was so cheap I thought I could buy one and gamble that it was a remedy for my problem tuning the ukulele.
The tuner arrived and I was amazed at how easy it was to use and how nice my ukulele sounded once it was tuned properly. The Korg CA-40 "listens" to a string and an easily read screen along with a series of lights tell me what note a given string is sounding. The device automatically shows if a string is sharp or flat so I know to tighten or loosen it on the way to the proper sound.
I read some reviews of the Korg CA-40 by real musicians and was quickly intimidated by jargon and comments I didn't understand. I thought the tuner might be something a genuine amateur would find overly complicated to use. Not so--actually the tuner is probably more useful to a novice with a dumb ear than to the pro with perfect pitch. This thing is a winner.

Korg MA-30 Ultra Compact Digital Metronome Review

(More customer reviews)This is chock full of features and hands-down the best budget portable metronome on the market, with only one caveat which'll be mentioned later. A terrific buy for students.
Battery life is great, getting around 200 hours out of two AAs. The display is clear and easy to read. I've dropped it once and it didn't cause any problems. For a digital metronome, the beep isn't an irritating chirp as some other metronomes tend to be.
It can generate any tone on the chromatic scale for manual tuning, and even allows you to adjust the pitch slightly away from A440 if you need to (sometimes necessary, especially for wind players playing outdoors in the extreme cold)
It can handle 1 - 7 beats per measure, and can give you triplets, 8ths or 16th notes on top of that.
It has a handy tap feature to determine tempo.
This isn't perfect, it's not a Dr. Beat (the best metronome on the market, period). The volume control is very sensitive, and if you have it in your pocket you can easily accidentally blast your ears with headphones on. An LED would be a nice addition.
The caveat mentioned earlier is this: Most people prefer a dial to adjust tempo as opposed to the up and down buttons of this model (The Matrix MR500, MR800 and the Seiko SQ50 have less features and lack a volume control, but do have a dial and LED). Still, for the price and the features, you can't beat it.
