Basic Piano Tuning Kit Review

Basic Piano Tuning Kit

I purchased the sister kit to this one ( one model down with no tuning fork or case because I purchased a chromatic tuner Korg CA-40 Large Display Auto Chromatic Tuner and Korg CM-100L Clip On Contact Microphone For Tuners instead and wanted to save $$$) My kit included the same 12" Star Tip Tuning Hammer (2) 3" x 3/8" Rubber Mutes with handles (2) 4" x 1/2" Rubber Mutes, Muting Felt temperament strip 5/8"x50" Wool Strip Mute. The hammer fit solidly over the pins of a Wurlitzer upright piano and has a good feel. ( no backlash or slop when changing direction). The balance point of my hammer is the metal ring at the base of the wood handle that clamps the metal shaft into the handle. This gives the hammer good balance. Not much to say about the mutes, they work. The only thing missing from this kit in my view is a wedging device to inset the wool strip mute in between the strings. My tuning book says to gently use a flat blade screwdriver to chink the felt in between notes but I recommend you pick up a 1" wide plastic drywall taping knife or spatula from your local hardware store which is softer, thinner an thus less likely to cause damage. Bon Tool 18-409-B0 Straight Plastic Knives, Width: 1 1/2"
In summary - Kit contains all you really need ( except a good ear) to bring a few notes back in into tune.
And remember slow and gentle and never turn the handle more than 1/16 of a turn in any one motion.

I needed a crescendo pedal for the virtual pipe-organ that I am building, reviews of the FC7 were very favourable.
Delivery to Australia was very prompt and the pedal is beautifully made and "feels" good to use. Am highly delighted.

Yamaha BB1 Padded Bench for the Yamaha P65 and DGX520, Black Finish Review

Yamaha BB1 Padded Bench for the Yamaha P65 and DGX520, Black Finish

This is a good solid piano bench and is not cheap looking. It looks surprisingly good with my electric piano. It's sturdy enough for large adults. I studied most of the piano benches offered on Amazon and read most of the reviews before deciding on this one, and have not regretted choosing it. I just wish I could store some music inside of it.

Yamaha CP50 Stage Piano Review

Yamaha CP50 Stage Piano

The previous reviewer obviously is into instant gratification, and can't be bothered with RTFM or such other unpleasant things. My previous keyboard was a Yamaha DGX-620 and there is no comparison. The piano sound and the keyboard are simply worlds better. My non-technical wife immediately noticed the difference. I consider the money as very well spent. I did the firmware update from version 1.11 to 1.20 today and it was completely painless. Sounds even better now. The only thing I miss is a way to display the chords being played. As for the weight, many other stage pianos are much heavier. The weight is because this stage piano is not a toy and built to last.

Carole King - Tapestry - Piano/Vocal/Guitar Artist Songbook Review

Carole King - Tapestry - Piano/Vocal/Guitar Artist Songbook
Average Reviews:

I have been listening to her "Tapestry" album for years, and always wondered if there was a piano/vocal book. I took a chance on this one, and I am more than pleased! The arrangements are about as exact as you can get to Carole's own playing. All the songs are included, but no extras. I love the album even more now, if that's possible.

Casio PX-100 Privia 88-Key Digital Piano Review

Casio PX-100 Privia 88-Key Digital Piano
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am obsessed with this keyboard. Why? Because it's the first one that I've seen and played so far that has PERFECT weighting on the keys, beautiful sound, and a GREAT price. This keyboard has been on my wishlist for a while now, ever since I first saw it at Sam's. I just want to reiterate how well Casio has done with this keyboard - While there are a limited range of tones available on the PX-100, there are plenty of features for someone who is like me - If you want the feel of a real piano with the weight of an electronic keyboard, this is the keyboard you want to look at. I just couldn't help but fall in love with the keys on this baby, I've played on keyboards with weighted keys before, but this one just takes the cake - The keys are weighted propertly, they spring back like they should, and the weight is ranged just right - the lower keys are just the slightest bit heavier than the higher end. This thing is a DREAM to play! Featuring midi input/output ports, two headphone jacks, pedal port and everything I've talked about so far, this keyboard is definitely something to look at if you want the warmth and feel of a real piano at the price and portability of an electronic keyboard. I highly reccomend this keyboard!

The slim, lightweight, and overall compact nature of Casio's Privia PX-100 digital piano means you can pack it just about anywhere. When you're not tickling its full 88 keys, you can stash the polyphonic keyboard in a closet, under a bed, or in other compact locations where most digital pianos refuse to fit.The scaled hammer-action keyboard offers touch sensitivity for beautiful piano tones and a feature called New Sound Source which is said to give the PX-100 sound quality to rival that of an actual grand piano. Auto-accompaniment provides exciting, dynamic, and realistic background arrangements for pop, jazz, rock, and a range of the other genres. The PX-100 can provide complete orchestral accompaniment on command, too.Other primary tones (voices) include strings and pipe organ, with 10 total tones. A layer feature allows simultaneous sounding of 2 tones, while a split feature lets you split the keyboard between 2 different tones. Lesson assembles functions that enhance your practice sessions, which you can devote to right-hand part only, left-hand part only, or both hands--whatever requires the most practice. You can also record songs for playback at a later point (up to 5,200 notes). An onboard metronome offers adjustable tempos and beats. Adding effects makes notes sound richer and deeper, and the PX-100 includes 8 effects: 4 reverbs and 4 choruses.Use the built-in music library to learn songs and develop coordination. There are 30 preloaded tunes plus memory storage for 10 downloadable songs. The PX-100's 30 preloaded piece include Chopin's Fantaisie-Impromptu Op.66, Satie's Gymnopédies 1, Beethoven's "Für Elise" and Sonata Op.27-2 "Moonlight" (first movement), as well as classic songs like "Over the Rainbow," "Someday My Prince Will Come," and "Let It Be."What's in the Box Keyboard, a user's manual, and warranty information.
